As summer 2008 draws to a close it is time to take stock of the first six months of the year.
Montparnasse 56 has seen significant growth in the number of visitors (almost 17%), with an overall total of 456 784 by August 31st.
As usual, the Montparnasse Tower has attracted German, Spanish, English, Swiss, Dutch and Japanese tourists, but the number of Russians, Brazilians, Indians, Chinese and Mexicans has also increased considerably.
With such strong growth, summer 2008 has clearly been a truly exceptional season, with a very real possibility of reaching our target of 600,000 visitors in total.
There is no denying that, despite the difficult economic climate resulting from soaring oil prices, a strong Euro and the possibility of the whole of Europe going into recession, Paris nevertheless continues to attract increasing numbers of visitors.
For once, the tourist sector, which is usually the last to benefit from economic growth and the first to be affected by economic slowdown, is bringing a ray of sunshine to what is a fairly depressing outlook.
Nevertheless, we must not be overly optimistic. We must make sure that during this second half of the year we go on listening to our customers, preparing new activities on the Panoramic Tour route for next year and making our presence felt more and more by professionals of the tourist industry both in Paris, France and abroad. We hope this second semester is a successful and enjoyable one for all of you and we would like to thank everyone for helping make our capital city such a unique and magical place.
As life returns to normal after the summer break, Marco Neto, a sales representative for Montparnasse 56, would like to say a few words :
«I am in contact with representatives of the tourist industry every day, whether from home or abroad. Promoting Montparnasse 56 is a truly satisfying job, as is listening to the comments of our customers. I would like to thank you for the work that you do, which enables us to continually improve what the panoramic visit has to offer tourists. I hope to see you at the Top Résa exhibition soon»

ESPACE 56
One of the many events that took place during this first half-year was the celebration of STOXX’s 10th anniversary, on April 17th 2008. The German index creator, founded in 1998, chose Espace 56 as its Paris venue, the highest panoramic lounge in any European capital…
The event was coordinated and organised by TMS Trademarketing, who managed to establish a different atmosphere in each city whilst keeping to the same idea all the way. Following celebrations in London, Frankfurt and Zurich, a hundred or so guests made their way to Espace 56 where they enjoyed a relaxed, cosy cocktail buffet that lasted until 2 a.m.!
