Newsletter - January 2009

At this start of the year, I would like to wish you a Happy New Year, on behalf of all our teams.

Our tourist site just finished an excellent year, with a still strong growth of nearly 20%. As a result, over a two-year period, our site will have welcomed nearly 200,000 additional visitors.

I would firstly like to thank the public and all the professional partners that contributed to this success, supporting our capital and the top of our tower, which offers the best view of Paris.

Out of the reasons for our growth, I would like to commend both the work of our sales teams, aimed at nearby markets, where Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain play key roles, but also our breakthrough on emerging markets. One example: the Chinese market with the hosting of 1,200 groups and 35,000 guests received on the 56th floor.

We hope that this good news will serve as encouragement to pursue our efforts to promote our Paris Destination and to not release the pressure in terms of our presence on various markets.

The poor current situation should encourage us to continue improving our offering and satisfying our customers. With this in mind, at Montparnasse, we are going to pursue our modernization efforts with the implementation of a new interactive visit and the set-up of a spectacular visual attraction, which we will unveil in spring 2009.

On behalf of all our teams, I wish you an excellent 2009.

Looking forward to seeing you soon on the Roof of Paris.

Patrick ABISSEROR

A word from the team

Caroline Delaire, operations manager:

The operation of the finest view of Paris requires much attention and vigilance every single day. It is with my entire team of cashiers, reception agents, store salespeople and also with our safety, technical and maintenance staff that we do our utmost to welcome ever increasing numbers of French and foreign tourists under the best possible conditions. Our goal is to make sure they take away a lasting memory of their visit. I would like to take advantage of these lines to send you, on behalf of the Montparnasse 56 operations team, our best wishes for 2009”.

NUIT BLANCHE

NUIT BLANCHE

Japanese artist Rioji Ikeda paid homage to the tallest tower in France during the 2008 Nuit Blanche on 4 and 5 October. His work, SPECTRA, made of vertical light beams, was combined with a musical animation made of horizontal sound waves modified by the passing of spectators at the base of the tower.

  THE HIGHEST CHRISTMAS IN PARIS…

THE HIGHEST CHRISTMAS IN PARIS…

Every day during the end-of-the-year holidays, Santa’s elves welcomed children on the 56th floor to help them discover the various ways of celebrating Christmas around the world. An activity focused on discovering other people and faraway cultures that was highly appreciated by kids…and adults!

  VENDÉE GLOBE
VENDÉE GLOBE
Since the start of the race on 10 November 2008, the Vendée Globe Race HQ has been located at the bottom of the Tour Montparnasse. 700 m² to welcome the public, attend radio sessions every day and follow this non-stop sailing race around the world live! For the first time, the Tour Montparnasse has also adopted the race’s colours: a 3,300 m² poster covers the tower’s western facade, between the 30th and 54th floors! Be sure to follow Race HQ until the end of January.
